Translate a PowerPoint presentation into Romanian
Upload your .pptx and Manuce translates the titles, text boxes, shapes and tables into Romanian, then returns the same file with its theme, images and animations intact. With Romanian, the things to check are the letters ș and ț, your theme fonts, and Romanian number and date conventions.
What it costs
For a PowerPoint presentation of about 1,500 words (20 slides), into Romanian:
To understand, internal use.
Ready to send, by the marketing and sales specialist.
Cross-checked. For documents that commit you.
Price for one language, original layout included. VAT not applicable — article 293 B of the French General Tax Code (CGI). The exact quote, based on your file's word count, is shown before you pay.
What Romanian changes on your slides
Romanian uses the Latin alphabet, left to right, with five accented letters: ă, â, î, ș, ț. The last two cause most problems. The correct form has a comma below (ș U+0219, ț U+021B), yet the cedilla form (ş U+015F, ţ U+0163), inherited from old keyboards and fonts, is still widespread. Romanian readers notice it, particularly in a large slide title.
The second issue is fonts. Some older or decorative fonts lack the comma-below glyphs, so PowerPoint either substitutes another font for those letters alone or shows an empty box: in “Creștere” the ș suddenly looks different from the rest of the word. If your template uses a corporate typeface, make sure it covers Ș, ș, Ț, ț, Ă, ă, Â, â, Î, î, capitals included, as all-caps headings such as “STRATEGIA PENTRU 2025” make any gap obvious.
As for length, Romanian runs slightly longer than English and close to French or Italian. Long words such as responsabilitățile or implementarea struggle in narrow table columns and small shapes.
Numbers, plurals and Romanian conventions
Slides are full of figures, and Romanian handles them in its own way:
- Three plural categories (one, few, other): “1 participant”, “19 participanți”, but “20 de participanți”. From 20 upwards the word de is inserted, though “119 clienți” goes without and “120 de clienți” with. A label such as “{n} participanți” reused from a template will be wrong for some values.
- Numbers: decimal comma and full stop for thousands, “1.500,75”, not “1,500.75”.
- Dates: “15.03.2025” or “15 martie 2025”, with months in lower case.
- Quotation marks: „low opening, high closing”.
- Headings: sentence case, “Rezultatele trimestrului”, not English-style Title Case on every word.
Register matters too. Facing clients or partners, Romanian uses the polite form: “Contactați-ne” rather than “Contactează-ne”, and “Vă mulțumim” on the closing slide. Request the free excerpt on a paragraph that addresses the audience to judge the tone before ordering.
What Manuce returns, and what it leaves alone
Manuce translates the text on every slide: titles, placeholders, text boxes, shapes, grouped shapes and tables. You receive your original .pptx with its theme, images, shape positions, animations and transitions unchanged; only the text is replaced. You also get a Word version, a PDF and plain text, handy for a colleague in Bucharest to review the Romanian without PowerPoint.
What is not done at present:
- speaker notes are not translated;
- text in charts (axes and legends such as “Venituri” or “Trimestrul 1” must be typed in), SmartArt, slide masters and text embedded in images stays in the source language;
- a paragraph mixing several formats takes the formatting of its start: in “Creștere de 12% în T3”, the bold figure loses its bold;
- text box sizes are not recalculated: PowerPoint's own autofit setting applies, and a fixed box may overflow.
Manuce does not produce sworn or certified translations.
Preparing the file and checking the Romanian
Before uploading:
- move any fixed text that needs translating (footer, confidentiality line) off the slide master, or plan to type it yourself;
- copy speaker notes into an ordinary text box if they must be in Romanian;
- replace images containing text with a text-free image plus a text box on top;
- confirm that the theme font includes comma-below ș and ț.
After delivery:
- search the file for cedilla
şandţand replace any withșandț; - run the slideshow to spot overflow, especially in tables;
- reapply bold to words emphasised mid-sentence;
- translate charts and SmartArt by hand, using the decimal comma and de after 20;
- have number agreement checked, as in “20 de diapozitive”.
In practice
- Upload your .pptx and choose Romanian: an instant quote appears, based on the exact word count.
- Request the free excerpt to check the tone and translation level.
- Pay and download the translated .pptx, plus Word, PDF and plain text versions.
- Check ș and ț, overflowing text, charts and any bold to reapply.
Frequently asked questions
Will my speaker notes be translated into Romanian?
Not at present. If you need them, paste them into a text box or a Word document that you upload as well, then copy the translation back into the notes.
How can I tell whether the file uses the correct ș and ț?
Search the translated file for the cedilla forms ş and ţ. If any appear, replace them with comma-below ș and ț. Also check that your theme font displays these letters without falling back to another typeface.
Will Romanian text overflow my text boxes?
Romanian is usually a little longer than English. Manuce does not resize boxes: PowerPoint's autofit applies if it is switched on, otherwise a fixed box may overflow. A quick run through the slideshow shows which slides need adjusting.
Can I submit this presentation to a Romanian authority?
For a presentation, a non-sworn translation is normally enough. If an organisation requires a translation certified by a sworn translator, Manuce does not provide that.
Why does Romanian cost more than some other languages?
Romanian carries a surcharge: a ×1.25 coefficient applies to the per-word rate. The quote shown when you upload already includes it.
